Sowan and colleagues identified these tasks as a basic set of competencies for appropriate and safe monitoring operations [17]. The tasks targeted the following competencies and navigation actions [17]: Admit, transport, and discharge patients using the monitors. Patient information needs to be correctly entered into the monitor for it to select the appropriate algorithm and calculate hemodynamic, oxygenation, and ventilation parameters for safe alarm limits.
